Orders and shipping
How long does an order take to ship?
Ready-to-ship orders are processed and shipped within 2 to 5 business days. Dyed-to-order yarn currently takes about 2 weeks to ship.
What does dyed to order mean?
Exactly what it sounds like. The yarn is dyed just for you after you order it. It is the best option for a larger project, because every skein comes from the same dye lot.
Do you ship internationally?
Not yet. We hope to add international shipping eventually.
Color and dye lots
Why do my skeins not match?
Hand-dyed yarn varies between dye lots, and sometimes between skeins in the same lot. That is the nature of dyeing by hand rather than by machine. If you are making anything larger than a hat, buy all your yarn at once and alternate skeins every couple of rows so any difference blends instead of forming a line.
Will the color look like the photo?
Close, but no screen is perfectly accurate. We photograph in natural light and show several skeins together so you can see the range a colorway covers. Every listing is for a single skein.
Care and handling
How do I wash my finished project?
Wash gently in cool water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent, then lay flat to dry. Full care notes for each base are on the fiber base page.
My yarn bled dye in the wash. Is that a problem?
A little loose dye rinsing out on the first wash is normal, especially in deep reds and saturated blues. It is not a defect and it settles down after a wash or two. Wash reds separately the first time.
Returns and the fine print
What counts as a defect?
Under-spun or weak areas in the yarn, two or more knots in a single skein, or other quality problems with the yarn itself. We cannot accept returns for dye lot differences or for tangling caused by winding. If something is wrong with your yarn, email us and we will sort it out.
Where does your wool come from?
Our yarn is mulesing-free and sourced from Peru. Our spinning fiber is Targhee and Polwarth. Fiber content for every base is listed on the fiber base page.
Can I request a colorway you don't have listed?
Yes. If you have something specific in mind and do not see it in the shop, get in touch and tell us about it.
Do you sell wholesale to yarn shops?
We do. If you run a shop and would like to carry us, get in touch and we will send you our line sheet and terms.
