Our Story

Where the only thing getting killed
is your yarn budget.

Hand-dyed · Small batch · Made with love

I didn't set out to start a yarn company. I set out to make one skein. Just one. To see if I could.

That was 2023. You can probably guess how that went.

With a background in Graphic Design and a deeply inconvenient obsession with color, I tumbled headfirst into the world of yarn dyeing and found that mixing dye is basically just graphic design, except you ruin more towels. After months of gloriously chaotic experimentation (splotchy skeins, surprise colorways, and at least one dye bath that stained the sink for a week), Attempted Murder Yarn Co. officially launched in January 2024.

The mistakes were plentiful. The lessons were priceless. The sink has mostly recovered.

Hi, I'm Emily, a one-woman operation, full-time tech worker by day, yarn goblin by night. My husband handles the numbers (he is, blessedly, the reasonable one), and our six animals (four cats and two dogs) provide quality control in the form of moral support and occasional chaos. Don't worry, all dyeing happens in a dedicated, fully pet-free space. Your yarn is safe. Probably safer than my sanity.

Attempted Murder Yarn Co. is my way of making something real and putting it into the hands of people who make things too. Every skein is hand-dyed in small batches, which means no two are exactly alike, just like the projects you'll make with them. If you're a knitter, crocheter, weaver, or someone who just really loves staring at pretty yarn (no judgment, same), I hope something here makes you feel that little creative spark.

"Now let's make something."
